Boots, Brooms, and Bonspiel Success: Foxy Lady Lights Up the Summerside Curling Club

The annual "Foxy Lady Curling Bonspiel" stampeded into the Summerside Curling Club this year with its trademark mix of fun, flair, and first‑class curling, delivering another weekend of laughter, line dancing, and friendly competition.

This year’s “Country Western” theme had teams trading their usual sweaters for cowboy boots, hats, and Dolly Parton wigs, transforming the ice into a mini rodeo of curling style. The creative costumes were matched by the energy on the sheets, with close games and high‑fives all around, while the off‑ice highlight was a spirited round of line dancing that kept the rink buzzing.

The event would not have been possible without strong local support. The club extends thanks to Bogside Brewing, Famous Peppers Pizza, and Crafters Smokehouse for helping keep the participants well‑fed and hydrated throughout the weekend. The organizers also highlighted the generosity of Cavendish Farms and Wet ‘n’ Wild Car Wash (Kensington) as the bonspiel’s primary sponsors, whose support helped make Foxy Lady memorable and enjoyable.

Long‑standing partner Bill Martin at Water Street Bakery is to be recognized again for his ongoing backing of the event, while thanks also goes to The Farmer’s Wife, Caley Aylward, and the Quality Inn for contributing prizes that added to the festive atmosphere.

The success of the event is a testament to the curling community’s enthusiasm and the club’s long history of hosting fun, women‑focused bonspiels. Looking ahead, the Foxy Lady is already teasing its next theme: “Neon Colours" will brighten up the rink in 2027, promising another unforgettable weekend of fun and camaraderie!
